Want to learn to weld.. mig or arc?
my car needs a new exhaust system and a little body work. i have always wanted to learn to weld so I figure this might be my chance. i want a mig welder, but they are much more expensive and use shielding gas which i would have to buy along with renting a bottle (i asume) An Arc welder is much cheaper, uses no gas, but looks to be sloppier, and maybe unfit for body work? Which should i buy? With some practice on some scrap and internet tutorals, will i be able to teach myself? Keep in mind i am not welding pressure vessls, or bridges. exhaust pipe, maybe a trailer or frame one day.
Mig is the way to go when it comes to welding on body panels and exhaust systems.Its easyer to use and is better suited for thin metal.
