If I heat Manganese up with a oxy-gas torch i've heard it will turn blue.?
Will it stay blue, i.e. it will be used as a pigment for painting with. And also, anyone - what does "OXY-GAS" torch mean and where could I get one.
I think you are thinking about copper Mg will turn white when heated because it turns into MgO
Any salt/ion of copper will turn blue/green copper chloride or
copper oxide their are others but these are easy to make take a cup fill it with water put some salt in the water then get a battery the higher the voltage the better you cannot use alternating current ie. the wall socket take two copper wires put them in the water but don't let them touch let it sit for a time the water will turn blue and in the water you have NaCl-salt and copper oxide it will settle out then you can remove some of the water and let the blue water evaporate the "crust" left behind contains salt and copper oxide it isn't the cleanest but it will give you that blue/green color and it will stay blue However copper will burn green if heated high enough but its really hot i think it's over 2,000 F at that temp it should turn blue/green but I have never tried heating it I only know about the batter method its called electrolysis
