Old gasoline and smog test question?

I pulled my RV out of storage today to go get a smog test. I believe there is about 12 or 15 gallons of fuel in the tank. The gas is about 1 year old. I didn't put stabil in it this time. . Smog shop says it is running rich big time by throwing their instrument in the tail pipe. So no actual smog test occurred.

In any case if old gas is used during a smog test, what is the result? Rich ? I tried to siphon the gas, but it obviously has an anti-siphon valve, thought about dropping the gas tank, but 15 gallons gas is WAY heavy. Then I thought about pulling the exit line from the gas tank, but I don't know what wires to jump to engage the fuel pump.

This is a ford E350 BTW.

Can old gas produce a rich fuel, I.E., its not oxygenated anymore? I am stll hoping I don't have varnish build up. LOL.

Any thoughts. Thanks and take care,
I am assuming once I add the sea foam to the oil, I should change oil after the 10- miles?

The fuel being old shouldn't make it run rich. Did you drive it far enough to warm it up into the operating range before they checked it? Go to the auto parts store and find a couple of cans of Sea Foam (you may have to ask for it). Put one in the fuel, one in the crankcase, and drive at least 10 miles. Try it again. If no improvement, look to a bad O² sensor.
