Why is my healing Friction Blister red in the center and pink on the outside? Infection?
I got the friction blister on wednesday from new football cleats (returned) and I still had to go to practice so the blaster had to endure 2hrs of pressure/friction disenabling it to heal till friday and by now it's red in the center, less red, then pink. I'm just slightly worried this could be infected, is it?
Doesn't sound like it's infected. If it were, it would be more of bright red, even in the surrounding areas, perhaps even with blanched area in the middle - especially if there is pus forming. Sounds like it's healing well, considering that you acquired it a couple of days ago. Perhaps it's only a bit irritated, but definitely on its way to completing its healing process.
Whatever you're doing to it, you may continue. Make sure it always remains clean and dry at all times, drying it every after washing your feet or taking a bath. No soaking for now - if at all possible.
When's your next practice? Perhaps you could wear a band aide over it and don thick socks before putting on your cleats this time, lessening friction. However, if the cleats aren't really your size, there's nothing you can do about the pressure.
