I have a very old metal pole-lamp, 2 pieces have broken, one looks like it was riveted?
I need to reattach them, they're a bit too heavy for super-glue. I keep thinking WELD IT but I'm not a welder and don't have what I'd need for that. Any advice very much appreciated!
I don't have what it would take to re-rivet..tho old rivet pieces are long gone.
One of the pieces is broken off the pole, used to be riveted. The pole isn't smooth, its ridged...so its like a small plate, spot on pole for it, 2 rivet holes..can't get to the inside for nut/bolt.
The other is lamp assembly at end of tube, it looks like it screwed on, there's VERY LITTLE thread...but it won't screw on/stay on now.
You might try an epoxy, like JB Weld, found at any autoparts store (or the auto department of stores like WalMart, and Target)
If its a simple case of the parts seperating because of a broken rivet, you can always drill out the old rivet, and put in a new rivet, or even drill thru, and use a bolt.
We'd need to see a photo of the parts to get more specific with our answers.
