Why not use Acetylene from cheap Calcium Carbide as a Fuel instead of Gasoline, Natural Gas, Propane?
Acetylene can be cheaply produced by mixing Water and Calcium Carbide (Cost about $70 a Ton) to produce Acetylene. Which is a clean burning gas, it has been used in the past for indoor lighting, outdoor lighting, Bicycle Lights. Acetylene can be commercially used for heating, transportation and as a general fuel instead of expensive Gasoline, Natural Gas, and Propane?
Calcium Carbide is a mix of Limestone and Charcoal that is abundantly available in all corners of the world.

A Welder runs his car on Acetylene:

So my question to you is why we are not using Acetylene as a clean fuel. I think it’s a viable alternative fuel that has been just used for Metal Cutting and Welding. It has wider applications; someone was talking about using it as a fuel on Mars, using atmospheric CO2 to make Acetylene.
Thanks
We won't be able to use just this as fuel, but as such, this is an excellent idea.
The future of fuels lies not in one resource, like with oil, but with several.
Fuels based on corn, soy, grasses, acetylene, hydrogen, loads of things.
I think different areas of the country will use different types of fuels.
It's impossible for everyone to rely on the same fuel forever.
