Complete Tig
Power disconnect switch with or without GFI?
Hello,
Yesterday I purchased a TIG welder, it requires 96 amps to run it's full 450 amp output but I am never going to need or use that. I have a 70 amp 2 pole breaker and 2 lines of 50 foot 2 gauge copper wire with a 6 gauge 50 footer for the neutral/ground. I am planning on running this line straight from the breaker to the attached garage but I thought it might be a good idea to put a complete off switch in the garage, but I am not really seeing the ideal option and I was hoping someone here may know of what I am speaking of. It is a simple switch, 2 pole, and if possible it has GFI built in. I am far from an electrician so any guidance would be appreciate.
well to be on the safe side, breaker you are putting in your garage can be a little lower. like 60. this is because you want to let your garage breaker breqk first . Other than than that why to put same 70amps breaker again in the garage. The 2nd point is the wires. Use appropriate and little higher than 60 for garage breaker . I think 2 gauge will be good for the garage breaker.
